AI – is the best (or worst) still to come?

An independent (financial adviser’s) view

AI has been, to say the least much in the news in recent days and weeks. The current fear, that it will take over the internet and we’ll be in thrall to the bots within 10 years, now overshadows the now rather less scary idea that it might be the catalyst for a soon-to-burst stockmarket bubble.

The share prices of the big AI movers, shakers and tech bros have been the engine of much of the very welcome investment growth in recent months. Surely, as we’ve often said, it and they can’t go on forever? The answer is though, rather more nuanced. Yes, the shares of some of those companies may be (perhaps massively) overvalued. Which will survive, which will disappear, which will thrive are the questions which every well-bonused fund manager hopes to answer – and only half will get right.

Keep your feet firmly in, there will be downs, but the ups will, if you don’t try and second guess, outweigh them. I’d say.

Man sits pensively in a dark shirt against an AI-themed backdrop with the words 'AI is the best (or worst) still to come?' overlayed. This conveys a discussion about AI's future.

Budget Rumours and Possibilities

The Budget Rumour Machine is not the shambles it was last year. Before Rachel’s Swansong all sorts of stuff was leaked to see what sort of puddle it would create.

And this, it seems is going to be a thing, as Barclays, too, has decided to reopen branches which will also include trendy cafes (well, a Costa) and chill-out work areas.

Why do 70% not get advice when taking pension benefits?

In the age of the internet, you can DIY pretty much anything. It will tell you how to fix your electrics or plumbing. You can book a holiday,, service a car old enough not to require the attachment of a laptop – and, of course, invest and advise yourself financially.
