Here’s fuel for City-fat-cat-hating conspiracy theorists. Big cheese (in every way) hedge fund manager Crispin Odey was a prominent Brexiteer. He’s now betting (and it’s a fair bet) that when we do actually Brexit, both sterling and gilts will tumble in value. If he’s right, he’ll do pretty well. Unlike the rest of us.

I was asked this week whether annuities are now ‘a good investment’. They’ve been recommended very rarely in recent years, since ‘pension freedoms’ allowed pretty much unlimited drawdown on pension funds and anything left to be passed on to beneficiaries free of Inheritance Tax.
