This sad tale highlights two dangers. That of bitcoin, which, I’ll go out on a limb and assert, is not the future world currency (I refer you to the recent history of the Euro). And of keeping your internet life too secret, however good your reasons for doing so; or making your password so bloomin’ obscure that even your nearest and dearest can’t guess it (and odds-on you can’t remember it yourself). You could, of course,  make a note of it somewhere, but then you’d have to do that in some sort of code in case your note was found…

Why did she/they (in the old sense) think that tinkering around with IHT and CGT would be enough to sort out the NHS; and the potholes; and…and the list goes on. My guess is  that they asked the Treasury for a list of anything not involving income tax that they could get away with lightly, although they should already have learned from the winter fuel stuff that all publicity is not good publicity.
