Here we go, an easy one to write as I can recycle the same old stuff already rehearsed many times. No government will grasp the care-for-the-elderly nettle and the story of the last 40 years or so is one of inaction or wrong action. The wrong was the Thatcher attempt to solve it by privatisation, which led to many a builder taking a subsidy and setting up a care home with no experience of anything. Then came the Blair Royal Commission, shelved, austerity, another of Boris’s oven-ready plans, stymied, he would say, by Covid. And now yet another report and review reporting not long before another election blah blah. The only answer, I’m afraid, is for us all to pay more income tax and accept that if we want proper services they have to be funded. Funnily enough, there is no Magic Money Tree.
“2024 a mixed year for sustainable investing, report finds”
lthough in theory the environment (pardon the) for sustainable/ethical/responsible funds improved significantly last year, the performance of many did not. Excluding oil/mining/guns/fags all hampered their performance in the aftermath of Ukraine.
