So here’s an idea: base the Tory leadership race (next year) on Wimbledon! Some big names might well be knocked out in the early rounds by unseeded young’uns that noone’s heard of, so much more excitement. At the sharp end, though, not much would change, as we’d end up with the usual big names in the final. But instead of the Centre Court crowd voting to choose the winner, they’d have to slug it out in five sets; or maybe a Harry Hill-style (parents etc.) fight. I think I’m on to something.
