Strangely, I’ve never met or spoken to a Trump supporter. Maybe, like some Brexiteers, they don’t travel abroad or talk to foreigners. Friends in the US were texting and Facebooking their angst then, last night, their delight at the eventual result and good luck to them. What does it all mean for us? A probable positive for stock markets, which prefer a somewhat more predictable office-holder. Not great for us, I’d say, as Biden’s on the ‘have you taken leave of your senses’ side on Brexit and, like many great people, has Irish roots. Rock on, Joe.
“Stocks surge and yields stabilise as Trump tariffs paused”
“The reason our stock market is so successful is because of me. I’ve always been great with money, I’ve always been great with jobs, that’s what I do”, said the man himself about (of course) himself. And, yes, one tweet, if we’re still allowed to use that old Woke term, on Truth Social can indeed send markets firmly up as well as down.
