Is it a condemnation of the current generation of bankers? A commentary on the computer generation’s loss of the wonder of childhood? Should we, as many would wish, return to the 1930s, when nannies were magic, maids said gorblimey and lamplighters were still called Jack? And would Mary Poppins sort out Brexit? 

Of course she would. Several prominent politicians would float gently upwards into porcelain pots holding the strings of balloons, never to be seen again. Which would be a practically perfect start to 2019…
