In other ways it has always been a triumph of hope over experience. I see in my minds eye non-festive and family time I can use for stuff, planning, reviewing and such, for which there is never time in the normal rough and tumble of the working week. For better or worse, it rarely happens. My tax return, which I’ve always, even in less prosperous days, been happy to delegate, is not and would never be on that list. OK, some don’t celebrate, but as a way to fill some empty hours I think even a Christmas Special or two would be preferable. Mrs Brown’s Boys aside.
