I heard an Item about traditional Japanese houses today. Apparently, they were made from degradable materials, as it was expected they would be rebuilt every two to three years. Many of those building the ‘exclusive developments of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes in a modern village setting’ outside every town and village would seem to be using traditional Japanese methods. Not sure many will outlast their owners cars. One thing’s for sure. Supply will soon outstrip demand and/or there’ll be, at least, a house price freeze.

Why did she/they (in the old sense) think that tinkering around with IHT and CGT would be enough to sort out the NHS; and the potholes; and…and the list goes on. My guess is  that they asked the Treasury for a list of anything not involving income tax that they could get away with lightly, although they should already have learned from the winter fuel stuff that all publicity is not good publicity.
