If you have the choice and inclination, which is the best country’s passport to try to (legitimately) get your hands on? The rankings are based on ‘mobility’, how many other countries will welcome you through passport control; quality of life (second, you’ll notice) and investment opportunities (so you can guess it’s aimed at those with money to invest). Good news, we are at least in the top ten. Bad, or at least interesting news, there is nowhere even vaguely warm and sunny on the list.;In fact, the UK would probably give you the warmest summers. Nowhere outside of Europe gets a look in, although it’s in the likes of Dubai where many of the mega-wealthy of no-fixed-abode end up, for often more nefarious reasons. And should you wish to get your hands on a Swedish passport, there will be a few hoops to jump through – a deep knowledge of Abba’s back catalogue and a visit to IKEA is unlikely to cut it. However, although I’m not a ‘global citizen’, I was pleased to see that both of my passports (UK and Ireland) are in respectable positions. Just need a yacht or two now.
“2024 a mixed year for sustainable investing, report finds”
lthough in theory the environment (pardon the) for sustainable/ethical/responsible funds improved significantly last year, the performance of many did not. Excluding oil/mining/guns/fags all hampered their performance in the aftermath of Ukraine.
